My new solo exhibition of work entitled; 'Stories of Lived Experience', that was exhibited for one night, on August 30th, 2016.
The project was part of a community consultation with Weave Youth & Community Services. Weave Youth & Community Services is a non-profit community organisation that has been working with disadvantaged young people, women and children for over 40 years in Redfern and surrounding areas. ARTD worked with Weave and Aboriginal community organisations to develop a qualitative evaluation involving interviews with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients, community and staff to understand what is most useful about how Weave works; the difference that Weave makes for clients and the community; and how Weave and the sector can improve. Part of the consultation was documenting some of the clients in a visual way, to accompany the written report and attribute real faces to the information.
Thanks to everyone who came by the showing of works, we hit 200+ people so I'm really happy with the turn out. Big thanks to Weave (Mardi and Katie you're both amazing) and the crew for having me involved and organising everything and to the clients for letting me into their lives to document them. I feel like photography is all about access and I feel very privileged to be able to photograph all the participants. I'm super proud of all of these shots and I hope you enjoy them :-)
